Fayetteville, N.C. — Flames shot out of the roof of a townhouse in Fayetteville on Tuesday night, causing residents of the complex to evacuate.
The fire broke out at a complex on Winding Creek Road just after 8 p.m.
No one was hurt.
A woman who came to the unit Wednesday morning said she and four family members lived there. She said no one was home at the time of the fire.
The family has a place to stay, she said.
The fire caused an estimated $100,000 worth of damage, according to a Fayetteville Fire Department report.
The unit’s roof had caved in, and shingles had fallen on the doorstep.
About 30 firefighters responded to the scene, and it took hours for the evacuated residents to be able to return to their homes.
