Panthers’ Pro Bowl running back Christian McCaffrey announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he has awarded a trip to the Super Bowl to Sergeant Major Luis Leiva and a guest.
McCaffrey awarded the trip in a partnership with USAA and the Marine Corps Association to a deserving military member and a guest. McCaffrey will spend time with him and his guest of honor during Super Bowl weekend. The Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs will be played on Sunday, February 1.
Leiva joined the Marines in 1990 and spent some time serving in North Carolina at both Camp Lejeune and New River.
“Sergeant Major Leiva started serving this country in the Marines before I was born and is still serving today, which is remarkable,” said Christian McCaffrey in a statement. “I am thankful to be able to team up with USAA and the MCA&F to award a trip to the Super Bowl to Sergeant Major Leiva and am looking forward to personally thanking him for his continued service when we meet at the Super Bowl.”
